Our Scholarships

Gerald T. McCubbin Memorial Scholarship

The Gerald T McCubbin Memorial Scholarship was established in 2001 to memorialize Mr. McCubbin's many contributions to Magnolia Bank and surrounding communities.  After serving his country in World War II, he dedicated his career to the Bank of Magnolia, serving as a Vice President and Director for over 35 years. An entrepreneur, he also owned and operated a fuel delivery service, hardware store, and grocery store. Mr. McCubbin also managed transportation services for schools serving Magnolia and Buffalo youth.

  • Scholarship Amount: $500
  • Application Available: Annually in January at LaRue County High School
  • Application Deadline: April 1st
  • Eligibility Requirements: Must be a graduating senior attending LaRue County High School with plans to enroll in a post-secondary college or university.

Preparing for Success Scholarship

Since 2007, Magnolia Bank has awarded more than $25,000 in scholarships to sixth grade students in the community. To apply, sixth grade students are asked to write an essay explaining their career goals and aspirations. Scholarships are available to all sixth grade students attending school in Hardin and LaRue Counties. At least one winner from each school is selected annually.

  • Scholarship Amount: $100 Certificate of Deposit
  • Application Available: Annually in September
  • Application Deadline: December – specific date updated annually on the application
  • Eligibility Requirements: Must be a sixth-grade student attending school in Hardin and LaRue Counties.

Empowering Opportunity Scholarship

The Magnolia Bank Empowering Opportunity Scholarship was established in 2022 in partnership with Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) and the Kentucky Community and Technical College system (KCTCS). Available to business students with unmet financial needs, the $500 scholarship is awarded annually to a student from Hardin or LaRue County, with payments split between fall and spring semesters for tuition and books.

  • Scholarship Amount: $500
  • Application Available: Annually in December at elizabethtown.kctcs.edu/scholarships
  • Application Deadline: February – specific date updated annually by ECTC
  • Eligibility Requirements: Awarded annually to a student from Hardin or LaRue County with an Estimated Family Contribution of $6500 or less as determined by the FAFSA. Student must be enrolled at ECTC pursuing a degree in business. Recipients may be new or current ECTC students and enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis. While the scholarship is non-renewable, past recipients may apply for continued awards.
